Why yet another blog? I have recently embarked on a journey to learn how the Ethereum network works at the infrastructure level. While doing so I’m finding myself spending plenty of time on Discord talking to the devs and the wider active community, troubleshooting, researching documentation and banging my head against a wall. The point of writing the blog is to reinforce my knowledge, make notes that I can come back to in the future and force myself to be more thorough in my research. With that said, maybe someone will find the content useful. That’d be an extra bonus.
At the high level I see three aspects to learning about blockchain:
- User level – creating wallet, transferring some tokens, staking, researching various projects (let’s say top 50 in coinmarketcap), this part I have covered
- The math and the science on how it actually works – well, this I leave to smart people
- Infrastructure level – the underlying software, servers and networks that run the blockchain, I’m lumping in this category developer tooling such as ethers.js, web3py, brownie, etc
I have been at it for about a month, and o boy, there’s a lot to it.
